About the role
Coachbetter is a fast-growing football coaching platform working with clubs, federations and international partners. We're looking for a Finance Manager with 1–2 years of hands-on experience who wants to own day-to-day finance in a start-up and grow with us. You'll be the COO's right hand on all things finance: running bookkeeping and month-end close, keeping cash and receivables under control, and turning numbers into reporting the team actually uses. It's a broad, hands-on role — ideal if you like variety, responsibility and building processes from scratch.
Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Month-End Close
Prepare and review bookkeeping data and support the monthly, quarterly and year-end close together with our external tax advisor. Support annual financial statements (Jahresabschluss) and audits.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Manage invoicing, payment runs, dunning and bank and card reconciliation, keeping cash and receivables under control.
VAT & Tax Compliance
Prepare documentation for VAT returns and support cross-border VAT topics across our markets, together with our tax advisor.
Management Reporting
Build and maintain monthly management reporting, KPIs and budget-vs-actual analysis that the team actually uses.
Cash Flow & Liquidity Planning
Run cash-flow forecasting and liquidity planning, and support reporting and covenant obligations towards banks and investors.
Finance Processes & Tools
Improve and automate finance processes and tools — accounting software, Stripe, expense and receipt management.
Business Partnering
Be the go-to finance contact for colleagues on budgets, expenses and contracts, and take on ad-hoc projects with the COO: pricing, business cases, fundraising and partner deals.
Requirements
Education: Degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a comparable field — or a commercial apprenticeship (e.g. Steuerfachangestellte/r, Industriekaufmann/-frau) plus further training.
Experience: 1–2 years of experience in accounting, finance or controlling — in a start-up, scale-up, tax advisory or audit firm.
Accounting Know-How: Solid understanding of accounting principles and VAT, plus hands-on experience with an accounting software such as Bexio, Abacus or DATEV.
Tools: Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
Languages: Fluent German and English.
Way of Working: Structured, reliable and comfortable working independently.
Good to have: Experience in a SaaS or subscription business, exposure to cross-border VAT or multi-entity setups (e.g. Germany–Switzerland), experience with Stripe, Revolut Business or expense tools — and an interest in football or sport.
